Why Does Real Food for Kids Matter?

My road to whole foods

Many of you already know my family's background and the why behind Fallon's Table, but for those that don't, here's the story in a nutshell:

When my second son was born, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, put on meds, and told more or less, “good luck, this will never go away and you can't do anything but medicate.”

My son was also in the thick of the worst case of eczema our doctor's had ever seen, anaphylactic food allergies, lung issues, and a very limited diet, to which we were also told, “good luck, this will never go away and you can't do anything but medicate.”

I sensed a pattern and felt a righteous anger over being failed by the medical system at large. I dove full-force into healing through food and holistic living and saw immediate results in some huge ways.

It took years of wading through diets, protocols, doctors visits, and medical bills before I gained more clarity on what really worked on a sustainable level. It look a long road of getting lost in restriction on the way, whittling my diet down to 7-10 foods at one point.

Today? I'm off medication, my Hashimoto's is in remission, my son has healed from many of his allergies and chronic issues, and I get the incredible privilege of sharing our story and the recipes that have helped healed us.

The next generation needs true health

In a culture where autoimmune disease and chronic illness has skyrocketed, daily medication and inflammation is normal, kids are sicker than ever, and our food system can feel hopelessly confusing, it is more important than ever for homes to be based around real food.

My family is proof that real food and holistic wellness is powerful.

I believe mothers, families, individuals are waking up to the reality of needing food to change. But it doesn't have to be restrictive, boring, limited, or dull.

The recipes I create are unique without difficulty, exciting without feeling unattainable, and delicious without sacrificing nourishment.
